It was a warm and wet spring here and the morels popped up right on time last weekend near my house in Cockeysville.  They always show up during the first weekend in May which just so happens to be my wedding anniversary weekend.  I found about two pounds at my spot last Saturday, and sauteed them in butter and salt to top a Delmonico steak with spring asparagus for a wedding anniversary dinner with my wife and daughter on Tuesday.

That was a nice haul! I had a great season too down here in E TN. All in the beginning of April. Found 25 in one day. They were smaller than these, but still delicious. Just perfect sautéed with butter, salt and pepper.
