I am new to the forum but not to rocks. My name is Laura and I live in Doyline, Louisiana which is about 30 miles east of Shreveport. I have had a fasination with rocks for nearly as long as I can remember and about 4 years ago joined a local Gem and Mineral Group. Have learned a lot since I have been with the group but still have a lot to learn. Right now my favorite rock is any that I can cut, polish and use in making jewelry. I will admit to being somewhat partial to Turquoise though as it is one of my birthstones and speaks to me on many levels.
