Cretaceous age Burmese amber (99+ million years old). Found this little guy (or girl) completely on accident. I was looking at the leaf pattern in a piece of burmite with my 10 x loupe & could barely see this thing underneath the leaf. So after working the backside of the piece down a bit, I took pics. Pic #1 is at 50 x, pics 2-4 are at 200 x. Pic 4 is also a cropped & enlarged version of 3. The fairy wasp is (still exists) a tiny, short lived parasitic wasp. They mate once and the female lays her eggs in the eggs of other insects. And has unique wings. Odd shaped with a fine fringe around them. This one is basically average size, being not quite 1 mm long. Pic 4 is to better show the fringe as I didn't want to destroy the leaf which can be seen in pic 1.

Very nice, Dave, Great pictures! Thanks!
She does have beautiful wings. You can almost see when she first got stuck on the amber saying, "Oh crap."  Smiley
