Bought a new macro lens

I recently bought a "super macro" lens which gives me a 4 X magnification.  Here are a few experimental pictures I took with it. I'm still trying to get used to it.

Very nice! I really like the red hematite confetti in the crystals (2nd pic). I may need to see about getting an actual macro lens for my camera now. The one it came with isn't much more than a magnifying lens that screws on. An auto focus macro lens would be a major improvement.

Arkansas Wavellite (first 3), and Spessartine Garnet from China (last 3).

Ok, I'm officially jealous! Both of the specimens and the pics. Undecided I've ordered a macro lens for my camera. Nice lil 40 mm with auto focus (one I could afford), but it's on backorder, so no telling when I'll get it. Then all I need to get is a really good setup like yours and some awesome specimens & I'll be all set! And probably broke, but hey.. can't take it with you, right?  Grin

Thanks Daves64. I think it's okay to splurge on quality tools for your hobbies, especially if it makes you happy.  Grin  Are you wanting to do focus stacking?

Someday, yes, if I can. My computer can most likely handle it, it's just the whole rig for the camera that I'm lacking. And the software. Monetarily though, I've got to take baby steps. But maybe someday.

I found this crystal yesterday with Joe.  It has what appears to potentially be adularia included in the quartz crystal.

3 x 11 mm

Please tell me that's not that little half-inch long crystal you found. Shocked
It's beautiful, and so BIG. Not to mention being able to see the inclusions!

These pictures are just a whole nother world, Scott. The Wavellite pics are really cool and surprising! They all are. Keep them coming, Thank You! Smiley
