I'm trying to be a little more proactive about taking pictures while out on our Sunday walkabouts. I used to carry a camera to take pictures not a phone. If you're going to use your phone to take pictures then you might as well take a video. You see how complicated having all these options makes things?
So I need a spot to post just pictures, of Sunday outings.
Like this picture from 3 Sundays ago. Scott and I had just gotten out to a new clearing in Chatham County and this front rolling in. We stepped out of the vehicle to take a look and two bolts of lightning cracked overhead. We decided fairly quickly to sit in the car and wait it out.

Easter Sunday was fairly typical except we were looking for 'eggs' in the top of this vein surfacing here in Wake County. After 4 or 5 inches of rain to wash everything off there wasn't much question about getting out to take a look.
Beautiful day and we met another rockhound out there from Vermont!
Scott is showing you how to do it and the last two pictures are the surface of a crystalizing vein I just uncovered. That pretty green saprolitic granite is a good indicator for crystallization in this area.

And yesterday was pretty much the same as last Sunday. Scott is finding better stuff than me so we'll probably give it one more try next Sunday, but it's a real up hill battle.
