I was going through the tons of chert I've collected and came across this! Don't know what it is yet, but it's pointy.

Beautiful! Awesome specimen! I am so enjoying vicariously taking a closer look at this chert! Keep up the Good Work!
You know what that little pointy thing is. You've seen them a hundred times. Most of the time when you find the fossil shell all these spiny things have fallen off.

A Sea Urchin spine! That is so cool! I am heading out there to tackle that giant chert in the ground that I now call Moby Chert. I will post about it after I recover.

And it's just so well preserved there in it's own little neat nest vug.
That's a keeper for sure!
A long with the Racing Stripe. I can't say enough about that racing stripe. You know how long the controversy about "Is it chert or is it agate" has been raging. Well, it's chert with some agate formations mixed in and the racing stripe will pretty much shut anybody up!
Great finds! Keep up the good work!
Yes, this weekend ought to be much better than the oven last weekend to tackle Moby Chert! I think you will love being the first one ever to break into the vugs you'll find! Think about doing a Field Trip Report for us. You know we'd love it!
And Be Safe. Lots of insect repellent probably wouldn't hurt.

Looks like the spine from some type of Urchin. Nice find!
