Yes, good question. I'm not that familiar with any of those publications.
A good field guide is a valuable tool. I know a lot of people like the Pough Field Guide, and I have looked at it some, but I use the Audubon  Mineral Field Guide and like it very much. The Farndon field guide is also popular.
All those books try to cover the minerals of the world and that is a lot to try and cover in one volume. I would suggest getting in the habit of using Mindat.com. It will take you a while to get familiar with it, but hands down the best resource available.
Also it helps to learn the geology and minerals of your own local area and branch out from there. It's easier to learn about other areas after you have figured out a few things in your own backyard. Like what is the green mineral in that quartz piece you posted pics of recently? Learn how to use the resources of your local State and USGS offices. Read the geologic maps and see what and where the different minerals are, and why they are there.
And a subscription to Rock and Gem magazine is well worth the money. They may not cover exactly what you are interested in each issue, but they'll get around to it. Of course you have to read it. Wink

Thanks for the link, ID, that was enjoyable and definitely to the point.
Jared and his videos are always great information.

Russlle, you definitely want to watch before purchasing.

Rick, thanks for the geology.com link. Yes, also great source of info that I use all the time.

Rain all day here. Atleast it's not snow! Grin
