The Ultimate Rare Condor Agate from Argentina

I like agates with multiple beautiful wavy fortifications and  inclusions as much as the next person.
But I love specimens with singular spectacular points of interest as well. Like a bed of drusy with just one beautiful crystal perched on top. So it is with this unique Condor Agate and it's single deep orange fortified triangle. It is hard to see the tail of the triangle trailing off into the inner depths of the agate in the pictures, but you can see the triangle through and through on the cabochon cut from the slab that came from the face of the nodule. And these took forever to get the polish right, or good enough.

That's a nice one Joe and a very good polish too. I can see a reflection of the trees behind you in the next to last photo - just like a mirror.

Wow, what a beautiful stone, how long did it take to cut and polish it?

Thanks RickB and Jay. Yes, this took a lot longer than it should've to polish. You know how a dark or black surface will show up the least little scratch, very unforgiving. I tried multiple times to get the specimen piece 'right' but just couldn't get the little hair-line scratches out. After a few months I finally tried some new and higher grade Cerium Oxide for the final polish and wall-a, success!
I had been having issues with getting a final polish I was happy with for some time and this helped me figure out I was using an inferior grade Cerium. Makes all the difference in the world.

Here are a few more Condors as examples of what they typically look like.

If they've got tiny little scratches you can't get rid of, just toss em in a box & send them to me. That way you won't have to look at them anymore.   Grin

WoW! Joe! What nice specimens. I like all of them and their colors.
I only seem to find white.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks, ID. Guess you'll just have to visit Argentina. And if you go, take Dave64 with you. He needs to get out more. Grin
