New here from Oklahoma

Hey y'all! I'm Anna, from far SE Oklahoma (but we consider ourselves a territory of Texas). My son, John, and I are rock hounds and avid fossil hunters; members of the McCurtain Co. Gem and Mineral club.

I've always loved rock hunting, but took scads of years off for education, work, and raising three daughters who did not share my passion. I finally had a son (9) who wanted to explore the same as I and we take off as often as possible (we home school). We are supported by my husband, who has little to no interest in rocks/fossils, but loves us.

We are amatuers, but gaining experience every day. I'm sure we'll have lots of questions and look forward to learning from y'all.

Welcome Anna.  It seems rockhounding is something that you either love or have no interest.  I'm not even sure if it can even be an acquired taste.  But, I'm glad that you now have a companion who shares your love.  Cultivate his love for rockhounding and soon he'll be taking you places and showing you some fantastic things to be found.  I hope you can join in our converstions about rocks and please post some pics of those nice fossil finds.

Hey There Anna, Welcome! Thanks for the introduction. Smiley

I too am glad to hear you have found a good rockhounding
companion. And, I'm glad to hear there is a local club nearby.
Good for you!
We look forward to seeing, and being educated, with some of
your finds.

Joe

Welcome Anna! You should be fairly close to the fee quartz mines and the diamond mine park in Arkansas.  At the other end of the state I lived in Lawton in the 1980s and often miss those old granite hills, aka the Wichita Mountains.
