Certainly goes to show you can't take all igneous rock for granite. Roll Eyes

I had some questions about the gneiss at this Stokesdale quarry.
It seemed to have more mineralization and "character" than
some of the other quarries like it we have been to.
The leucocratic nature producing garnet and feldspar porphyroblasts
gave it an almost brecciated or augen texture in places.
It is too bad we rockhounds don't normally have the time
to dwell on what the igneous protolith of the present rock
would've been. There is only time to search for the pockets
with the "shiny" stuff within.
