I don't know if this is a rock or glass. It was found in a floodplain for a man made lake. Although it is hard to tell in the pictures, the rock is not very jagged at all. Very few rough edges. There is one smooth(ish) face where it looks like the rock broke from something larger. The rest of rock is more round and weathered looking. There are natural grooves and indentations that I typically don't associate with glass. 

Also the piece is very thick. There is not many pieces of standard glass that one is going to find that are 2 inches thick.

I've tried testing the hardness but it is very hard to pinpoint. It seems to be between 5-7  but I don't have anything relative to test between the 5-7 point.

thanks for that, yeah there are several fire pits in the area, although not particularly where this rock was found. It was a campsite at one point in time.

So that would make since if its possible to melt glass in a simple bonfire, it is a woodsy area.
