Who knew ..

a crusted quartz point could look sooo pretty? Bought a few quartz points earlier today from the local museum gift shop at $2.16 each. One has some minor crust on one face that just looks like sparkles when viewed through from the opposite side. Another one has one face covered in completely covered with the side next to it mostly covered & the 2 faces on either side have a bit as well. But..... when viewing the full face crust through the opposite face, I saw a thing of absolute beauty. A delicate filigree of glittering white, so after a few attempts, I managed to get pics and here they are. Very little cropping done, just mainly resized them. Got the pics by leaning it against a black background & shining a bright LED into it while having the camera lens almost kissing the crystal. The first 3 pics are the crust itself as viewed from the outside, the rest are through the crystal.

Oh I love things like that. Sometimes it looks like your gazing into the sea or something.

Those are mega bargains!

Ok, my bad. Not a crust, even though I can feel it from the outside. Its a massive inclusion of something. Looks at the terminated point & can see how it's growing inside the crystal.

Yes there is no end to the amazing world in included quartz crystals.
Hours will fly by and still there is no end!
That is some very clear quartz. I like the last pic in your first set very much. Nice shot!
I believe the white curly included material is either a form of "vermicular (worm-like) chlorite" or hollow negatives of where the chlorite was.
Or maybe someone will correct me on that. Wink

Keep up the good work and here's a link to some "light" reading on inclusions in Quartz.

I'm thinking chlorite as well. Just found some green and yellow inside. Plus there seems to be a tiny bit of pink here & there with bits of red on the outside. Thinking this thread needs moved to the included section.

Forgot to add that this one is 1.75 inches tall x just shy of .75 inches wide.
