How many names does it need!!

I do like anandalite, but today I got another today and I have a feeling that much of my anandalite isn’t anandalite at all!

So this baby is all natural-

More pics close up.

I’m confused by the anandalite being sold with no flashes now though (none of my other stuff is like this)

Jeepers Creepers, Dude, that's a lot of pictures! Did you get a new camera too? Smiley

But, yes, let's talk about this "Anandalite".
So, are both sets of pictures the same cluster?
Is your confusion because this piece has "more" rainbows and color than previous pieces you've gotten? ( Because this piece looks to me to have a lot of flash.)
And where does Anandalite come from? The name has a Hindu root so maybe India?

Top set are with a camera
Second set Dino lite
This one is camera on phone

My others don’t have any flash I don’t think! I’ll have to inspect closer! But this is from Ahmednagar in India, so I believe.

You think this is a lot of pics... you should see how many I actually take lol. I do it with everything, trees, animals... most of my pics are like a flip book!!

Well you can really see the surface of all those little crystals with the Dino-lite!
There are hundreds or thousands of little faces all over the drusy crystals in the cluster that are probably what is causing the rainbow reflections. Artichoke and Alligator are a couple of names used to describe that type of crystal growth. And that type of growth will happen in certain areas, so Anandalite may indeed have a site source. And not all the quartz crystals from that site will necessarily have the artichoke growth. Some could be "normal".
So, if you have any questions about some of your other pieces, look at them with that Dino-Lite and see if they have that growth or not.
Might be the difference.
Iris quartz and Iris agate are two very specific types of formation where the "layers of growth" of the silica materials are very close together and create a rainbow prisim effect when light shines thru them. I don't know if your Anandalite would "qualify" as an Iris growth or not. It does look to be a very unusual habit.

I kindof like the way that piece sparkles! Thanks for the pics.

Now I have to go look up anandalite...

Lol well we are glad your not a fish then Rebecca  Grin

It will defo be meeting the full moon on the next one, as all of mine do  Wink

This one is another league to the other pieces I have though, I’ll try and add my others to this post soon. Defo one to check out though I think  Smiley

Joe, I’ll come back to this, I only had time for a quick glance and they do all have flash- apart from one (the one that is “official” too!) but I didn’t get to have a good look at their form, I couldn’t see any alligator type formation though.

I defo need to look more into iris as I’m not quite understanding what I’m reading on it at the moment.

It's pretty, and I'm sure when you're holding it, in person, in the sunlight, it's spectacular!

It’s pretty groovy when it’s moved around Lizziebird Smiley

The flashes aren’t in every point by the way, but there are quite a few in this piece.
