I recently got a new Dino-Lite that has EDOF (Extended Depth Of Field) which allows me to make minute adjustments to the focus, taking pics the entire way. The software also has photo stacking to go with it. This little bit of eye candy is only about 1 cm wide on a piece of common, white opal. Total pics is 15, stacked into 1. I think it turned out ok. I'm still experimenting with it though.

Very interesting, Dave, Sounds like a nice little machine!
I look forward to seeing more of your experiments learning how to use it. Thanks for the pic!

Awesome, photo stacking is the best way to go for sharp photographs pulling in all the minute details.

A couple more pics. These are from a piece of the Indonesian "root" amber. 1st pic with a fracture running through it, making it 2 toned & sort of special. 3rd is an overall shot.

Wow, dave, you went from beginner to professional with that thing! Smiley
Those pictures are AWESOME! Great tone and clarity to them.
You are right. That first 2-toned picture is very cool! Way cool. I want it as a wallpaper!  Cool
The surface of the amber looks great and that's the best look I've had of the interior tubes!
Thanks for the pictures and I look forward to more! Smiley

Awesome! Those roots probably still have DNA that you can extract to grow a plant that has a cure for cancer.  Cheesy

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of growing a new Joe (in case the old one wears out). But, since I have no way of knowing what the roots are from, or even if they ARE roots... might come out kind of weird.  Grin

You can't rely on clones. I had five ,one was good at my job ,one was a great cook, one was incredible  in bed, another was a gifted artist, the fith one was terrific at making money, he won't talk to the rest of us the prick.

HA! Heaven forbid I don't want to see that either, CB!

Ya kno', reminds of this kid back in elementary school who would make 'roots' into a three syllable word. You should've heard it, Rew-a-utts. Wink
