Okay, Instead of starting a new Glendon Field Trip thread,
I think I'll just keep this one going.
This mine, or quarry, is only open to collectors twice a year.
One day in the Spring and one day in the Fall.
This was the annual MAGMA Rock Club Fall Dig and is always
one of the most fun digs of the year for me. Friends from
Florida, Georgia, South Caroline, Tennesee, OHIO, Virginia,
and all parts inbetween come to slop and stagger through
this wonderful white Pyrophyllite mud in search of the
perfect cube mineral of their choice,
and it's always good to see them.
I guess we could call this thread "Glendon Fluorite", because,
even though Glendon is known as a great place for collecting
Pyrite cubes, it seems we have only been collecting the
Fluorite lately, and that's pretty much what this thread has
been about. We may get to the Pyrite eventually,
but not this time.
Back to the "Fluorite Hillside". Here's a couple of pics of
that hillside and those that made it their "choice" this time.
