If there is a lockdown bright spot for me, it's being forced to go  through unsorted stones.

Yes, I think probably a lot of us have been taking the opportunity to sort through some old rocks. Wink
Those are really pretty! You guys out west have that "Screamin' Yeller"rock! You don't see many yellows like that around here.
I'm wondering how far that piece of mahogany obsidian had to travel to get to the beaches of sunny Southern Cal?
Nice pics. Thanks!

That my friend is actually not mahogany obsidian, but brecciated itabirite. Here is a picture of three. The smallest has been in the tumbler for a few days. The biggest is how they look when I find them (that one is over 5 pounds.) The other, my favorite, shows the itabirite in the pure layered form and the end is brecciated with really nice vibrant jasper.

Ah So. Me thinks I looked too quick! Thanks for the correction. Smiley
Yes, your favorite is cool. Looks like some sort of acorn!

Hey JoeM,

I forgot to comment on the yellow stones you mentioned. Those are feldspar, so they flash brilliantly in the sun. And yeah, we have tons of it out here, so if you ever want to trade for something unique to your region, I'm always game.

Awesome, BC! Sorry you had to get up in the middle of the night to write that down,( Cool), but Thank You!
Let me know if there's anything from around here you're interested in.

So they're feldspar. And the yellow comes from Iron Oxides maybe?

Goodness your tumbling skills are on point!  Very well done, and beautiful stones.  Cheesy
